Ductile Iron Surface Box for Buried Valves and Fittings
The 150x150x100 surface box gives ground-level access to a buried fitting and keeps the chamber covered the rest of the time. It is a ductile iron casting with a 150 x 150mm opening, the smallest in this range, sized to work the fitting from above rather than to climb into the chamber.

Key Design Features
The frame beds into the surrounding surface and the cover drops into it on a non-rocking seating, so it sits still rather than knocking each time something passes over. The keyways are closed, so the slots used to lift the cover do not open through into the chamber. The 100mm frame depth beds the box into a normal surface build-up without a deeper excavation.
Benefits
- Non-rocking seating stops the cover knocking, so the seating faces do not wear.
- Closed keyways keep grit and silt off the fitting below.
- Ductile iron gives casting strength at a weight one person can lift.
- Black coating protects the casting once it is set into the ground.
- Small opening covers the chamber without taking up much finished surface.
Applications
Use it where a single buried fitting, typically a stop tap or small valve, has to be reachable without digging. It gives room to drop a key onto one spindle. Step up to the 225x225x100 box where the fitting is bigger or two connections sit side by side.
