Square Ductile Iron Box for Larger Buried Valves
The 225x225x100 surface box covers a buried valve or fitting and lets it be reached from the surface without excavation. It is a ductile iron casting with a 225 x 225mm square opening, one size up from the 150x150x100 box in the same range.

Key Design Features
The cover drops into the frame on a non-rocking seating, so the two castings do not work against each other under load. Closed keyways count for more as the opening grows: a wider cover sits over a larger void, and blanking the lift slots stops washed-in grit reaching the fitting.
Benefits
- Closed keyways keep the chamber clean, so the valve is ready to operate.
- Non-rocking cover stays seated and does not rattle in service.
- Opening leaves room for a hand or a key head, not just a bar.
- Ductile iron keeps the cover liftable without gear at this size.
- Black coating protects the casting in the ground.
- Shares the 100mm frame depth of the other square boxes, so bedding details stay the same.
Applications
Use it over valves and connections needing more working room than a 150 x 150mm box allows, such as larger spindles or a chamber holding two fittings. Where the fitting is longer than it is wide, such as a buried hydrant, the rectangular 380x230x100 FH box is the closer fit.

The 150x150x100 box covers smaller single fittings and the 300x300x100 box the largest chambers in the square range. All three sit in the Surface Boxes section.
